Much anticipated week of the first interest rate hike since the pandemic is here. However, Federal Reserve is not expected to raise the rate by 50 basis points and instead will be raised to 25 basis points.
The pull back is due to the geo political uncertainties surrounding the Russia/Ukraine conflict. This conflict has resulted in bump in commodity prices especially in the energy sector.
Inflation rate in the US came in at the expected 7.9% last week. Supply chain issues are also not expected to get better until end of the year.
Producer Price Index(PPI) report will be released on Tuesday Mar 15, 2022. This index is the gauge for changes in prices of good and services by the product makers. This report is also expected to show in increase from Feb 2022.
