Some important news from last week first.
Last Friday’s jobs report showed that 531,000 jobs were added. 450,000 new jobs were expected. Huge difference compared to the past 2 months.
Feds have decided to start easing up on the mortgage-backed securities buy back and thus slow down pumping money into the economy. They will reduce the buy back each month by $15 billion. They are currently buying $120B a month.
This signals that Federal reserve is now confident that economic recovery is well on its way. However, they have declared that they will monitor the effects of easing and apply any adjustments as needed.
Federal reserve also announced that they will keep the interest rates near zero.
Result of all of this news last week… All three indices closed at record highs.

October’s consumer price index will be released on Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This report show how much change is in the prices that consumers pay for goods. It is expected to be higher than September. Consensus by economists is that problems in supply chain and labor shortages combined with customer demand is driving up the prices.
